Chamberlain McHaney, PLLC (CHMC) seeks full-time, talented paralegal with minimum 5 years of litigation experience to manage an active insurance defense docket. CHMC represents clients, including Fortune 500 companies and major insurers, in all major areas of litigation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Review and analyze pleadings, contracts, discovery, and various legal issues to assist attorneys in implementing appropriate legal action.
Attend pre-trial and trials assisting with voir dire and exhibits.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively participate in a team-oriented environment.
Self-motivated, highly organized, and efficient time management skills.
Ability to recognize and handle potential emergencies with poise and professionalism.
Tech savvy and experienced with Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro.
Work Monday-Friday typically 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to meet client needs. Travel is primarily local when needed although occasional overnight travel may be expected.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years of litigation experience, preferably insurance defense.
Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification with combination of education and years of experience.
Experience creating billable time narratives in formats required by client insurance carriers (i.e. single task narratives instead of block billing and use of UTBMS/ABA Litigation Task Codes)
Additional legal research certifications and coursework a plus.
