Manages the legal, financial, and operational risk of Cherokee Nation Businesses and its subsidiaries. Drafts, reviews, and assists with negotiations on all contracts for Cherokee Nation Businesses and its affiliates. Maintains, stores, and administers the contracts after execution. Leads functional areas or departments with Contract Administration develops policies and processes for those functional contract areas.


Includes the following:

  • Drafts, reviews, and assists with negotiations on all standard and non-standard contracts.
  • Prepares and maintains standard form contracts for recurring business needs.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with mandatory flow-down clauses applicable to agreements in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and other agencies supplements.
  • Prepare Non-Disclosure and Teaming Agreements as appropriate.
  • Confident in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, and able to multi-task and manage expectations
  • Assists with identifying Purchasing needs.
  • Implements master purchase or service agreements with vendors.
  • Ensures all contract provisions comply with internal policies and requirements.
  • Coordinates internal review for all relevant parties. Obtain internal and external signatures in accordance with company signature authority policies.
  • Coordinates preparation and reviews with outside legal counsel.
  • Assumes full responsibility for meeting business needs of specific functional or departmental areas.
  • Prepares and maintains standard forms for designated area. Provides periodic reporting for that area.
  • Assists with the contract training of department personnel and internal customers associated with the designated functional areas.
  • Maintains CNB’s central library of original contracts, related documentation, and correspondence.
  • Maintains CNB’s contract database containing key contract elements.
  • Provides periodic reports on contract activity. Reporting will include notices of expiration, status of pending agreements, and compliance with insurance provisions.
  • Assists department heads and executives with contract interpretations and resolutions as needed.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Assists with making contract content decisions.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Manages multiple projects without having direct supervisory responsibilities.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field and
  • 7 years of relevant contract drafting experience or
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Must have a working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and associated agency specific clauses as applicable to the contracts being administered.
  • Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and creative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivation.
  • Proficient with various software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity while dealing with a wide range of external customers.
  • Ability to maintain a positive professional working relationship with management and co-workers.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments based on internal customer needs.
  • Ability to define specific contractual requirements and reach mutual agreement between CNE and counterparties.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and Federal Background check
  • Pursuant to U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, Cherokee Federal is now requiring that all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8th. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (i.e., Moderna or Pfizer) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (i.e., Johnson & Johnson). As a prospective employee, you will fall under this requirement and proof of vaccination will be needed for on-boarding, should you be selected. Limited exemptions for religious or medical reasons will be considered.
  • TEMPORARY NOTE: On Tuesday, Dec. 7, a federal judge issued an injunction blocking President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors (EO 14042). Cherokee Federal is monitoring the court case and awaiting a final ruling. As a result of the injunction, Cherokee Federal is halting the enforcement of the mandate, however, if the injunction is lifted and the mandate remains, Cherokee Federal must reenact its vaccine requirement.


Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
