Frost Bank is seeking a Corporate Counsel – Consumer Lending to provide transactional, strategic, portfolio servicing and pre-litigation legal advice for various types of consumer real estate secured and unsecured lending products. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of legal experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a practical, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. Electronic lending knowledge and experience with UETA and ESIGN preferred.
What You Will Do:
Provide legal support and advice to all consumer lending businesses at Frost
Help Frost comply with all applicable Texas and federal laws and regulations impacting consumer lending, mortgage lending and mortgage servicing activities
Assist the relevant Frost lines of business with drafting, implementing and updating policies and procedures to assure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and investor requirements
Advise senior executives regarding origination and servicing risks and help find and execute practical solutions
Monitor emerging trends and recommend enhancements to consumer lending policies, procedures and practices
Assist with ad-hoc projects as assigned from time to time
What You Bring:
Minimum 7 years of experience working as an attorney at a law firm, bank, mortgage lending company or relevant regulatory entity advising on and providing legal solutions for consumer lending and/or mortgage lending or servicing issues
Juris Doctor from accredited law school, and member of State Bar of Texas (preferred)
Extensive knowledge of federal and Texas laws impacting consumer lending, mortgage lending and mortgage servicing including TILA, ECOA, FCRA, RESPA, FDCPA, the HPA, the Fair Housing Act, UDAAP and predatory lending laws
Ability to exercise sound judgment to identify risks and convey advice
Ability to interact confidently and respectfully with peers as well as more junior or senior team members
